Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan Bio

Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan is an Indian space scientist who had been serving as a head of the Indian Space Research Organisation from 1994 to 2003. He has been serving as a chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University and and well recognized as the chairman of Karnataka Knowledge Commission.

Biography: He was born on 24 Oct 1940 in Ernakulam.

Education: He completed his education in Science with Honours form Ramnarain Ruia College, Matunga situated in central Mumbai after that he took his masters degree from University of Mumbai. Then he completed his  his Doctorate Degree in Experimental High Energy Astronomy from Gujarat University in 1971 and then his 244 papers are published of areas of astronomy, space science and applications.

Career: He has become a former member of Rajya Sabha from 2003 to 2009 and nowadays, he has been serving his role as a former member of the now defunct Planning Commission of India. He has worked as a directer of  National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bangalore, from April 2004 to 2009.

Achievements: He has taken three awards Government of India: the Padma Shri (1982), Padma Bhushan (1992) and Padma Vibhushan (2000). He says that, these are the biggest achievements of his life.
